Parista retrokangastilkusta, huopapalasta ja jämäkankaasta syntyi tämmöinen kangastaulu! Olisin halunnut tälle raamit, mutta en ehtinyt niitä tähän hätään hankkia. :]
Arvatkaapa vaan soiko Ylviksen "What does the fox say?" kappale päässä tätä tehdessä? Haha!

Two pieces of retro fabrics, little bit of felt and some leftover fabric and voilá! This is what happened! I would've liked to frame this but I was too slow to find fitting frames. :]
Guess if Ylvis' "What does the fox say?" played all the time in my mind when I made this? Lol!

Hei!

Toivottavasti vuotesi 2014 on alkanut suotuisissa merkeissä! Minun vuoteni on alkanut ahkerasti ja toivon että sama meno jatkuu koko vuoden! :)

Ajattelin tehdä tänään oikein ison taidepostauksen lähes kaikesta siitä mitä olen "joululomani" ja uuden vuoden puolella ehtinyt tekemään. On hauska jakaa muun muassa pari kuvaa joululahjoiksi valmistamistani kangastöistä, joita en pystynyt näyttämään aikaisemmin yllättämisen halun (ja sittemmin lomani) takia!

I hope your year of 2014 has started well! For me it's been hardworking and I really hope this continues trough the whole year! :)

I decided to make a huge art post of all the things that I've created during my "Christmas holiday" and on this week. I especially wanted to share the two first pictures of needlework that I made for friends as Christmas presents. I couldn't show them earlier because I wanted to surprise them and after Christmas Eve I was on holiday. :D

I'd also love to add a book cover which I digi-painted and finished this week but the book isn't published yet so I don't want to rush things. I'll leave it for later! ;)

It's nice to start blogging after a pause. DoNichi-Art could make one New Year's Resolution: this year here will happen something new! Exciting isn't it?

80. Do

Ennen kuin aloitetaan joulukalenterin pito päätin tarjota teille kurkistuksen tämän päivän kranssityöpajaani. Olen aikaisemmin tehnyt kranssitöitä ulkona, mutta tänään sää oli kerrassaan niin kamala että siirryin työskentelemään ennemmin kellarin lattialle. :D
Yllä näette kaikki tähän asti tekemäni havukranssit. Alla on kuvia valmistusprosessista: tarvikkeista, sidonnasta ja viimeistelystä.

Nyt jännityksellä odottamaan joulukalenterin avajaisia! ;)

Tomorrow I'll open the first lid of DoNichi-Art Christmas calendar for you but before that I show you my twig wreath workshop from today! Usually I do this kind of work outside but today the weather was so horrible that I took my equipment to our basement and worked there. :D
In the first picture you can see all the twig wreaths I've made so far. Those three other pictures show the working process: the needed equipment, lashing and finishing/decorating. 

Now you can start wait for the Christmas calendar with excitement! ;)

72. Nichi

Tämän viikon inspiraatio löytyi ylläolevista kirjoista. 'Sisusta risusta' on Raija Puukon ja Marjo Koivumäen kirjoittama teos, jossa on hauskoja vinkkejä käsillä tekemiseen luonnonmateriaaleista. Olen itse kokeillut jo käpykranssin ja havukranssin tekoa kirjan oppeihin perustuen. 'Japanilaiset tilkkutyöt 2' (Susan Briscoe) pitää sisällään mitä moninaisempia ja upeimpia tilkkutyöideoita. Käytin kirjan oppeja soveltaen, koska minun töissäni tuppaa olemaan paljon värejä. Kirjan tilkkutöissä on käytetty maanläheisiä ja harmonisia värejä, joita minun kokoelmastani ei valitettavasti löydy samalla tavalla.

Koristetyynynpäällisiä / Pillowcases

Eilen inspiraatio kukki ilman kirjallisuuttakin. Kokoonnuimme parin kaverin kanssa askartelujen ääreen ja hauskaa riitti, muun muassa askartelusilmistä. ;)

This week's inspiration came from literature. Especially two books took my attention which I introduce you here.

The first one is a Finnish book of crafting with natural materials, like sticks, cones and moss. I've made a cone wreath and a twig wreath by its instructions so far. The other books is Susan Briscoe's writing of Japanese style patchwork (Japanese Taupe Quilts: 125 Blocks in Calm and Neutral Colors). Like the title says it uses neutral colors but since I don't have so many neutral colors in my collection I use colorful fabrics instead.

Yesterday the inspiration bloomed on its own when me and couple of my friends gathered together and crafted some cards. It was fun!

Tämä viikko on ollut hyvin käsityöpainotteinen ja suurin inspiraatio onkin tullut niistä onnistumisentunteista, joita olen töissäni kokenut. Kävin vielä eilen ihastelemassa muidenkin kättenjälkiä Oulun Kädentaitomessuilla, josta lähti myöskin paljon uutta intoa matkaan. :)

Olen saanut tähän mennessä aikaan pinon patalappuja, neljä lahjapussukkaa ja kaksi tyynynpäällistä. Lisäksi kokeilin viikolla tehdä kissanlelun, joka oli mitä ilmeisimmin onnistunut kokeilu. Jälki näytti hyvältä ja kaverin kissanpetu tykkäsi. :D

Ensi viikko jatkunee suht samoissa merkeissä kuin tämäkin viikko. Koitan keksiä jotain upeaa käyttöä messuilta ostamilleni kahdelle uudelle tilkulle! ;)

This week I was occupied by crafting. I crafted almost everyday and that's where I got the biggest inspiration, too. When you feel you've succeeded in something it gives you lots of new energy, right? :) Yesterday I went to Oulu's Handicraft Fair where I admired others' crafts. I couldn't feel more than excited!

My balance of crafting account at the moment is a pile of potholders, four gift-pouches and two pillowcases. I also made a toy for a kitten this week which seemed to be a success. I liked how the toy looked out and my friend's kitten loved it. :D

Next week is going to be pretty much the same than this week for me I guess. I try to figure out where to use those wonderful fabrics I bought from the handicraft fair! :3

Tässäpä olisi tämän viikon taiteelliset tuotokset! Niitä on monta, mutta halusin välttämättä näyttää ne kaikki, heh! Ne eivät ole vielä täydellisiä, koska siitä on ehkä kymmenen vuotta kun olen viimeksi tehnyt mitään vastaavaa. Mutta tästä on hyvä jatkaa, eikö? :D

There are my artistic achievement from this week! I wanted to show all of them, heh! They're not perfect but that's quite understandable because I haven't done anything like that at least in ten years. But it's good to continue from here, right? :D

18. Do

Tämän viikon taide on hieman erilaista kuin aikaisempina viikkoina. :D Sain olla hetken lavastajakin, kun tein tuon kujan geishoille. Korkeutta geishoilla on noin 8cm.

This week's art is a bit different than before. :D I could be a set designer for a while when I made that alley for geishas. Those geishas are about 3" tall.
