396. Vanha kaupunki / Old town

Unohdin sitten tyystin päivittää blogin viime viikolla... Ei ihme, sillä mulla on ollut paljon mielen päällä.

Suurimpana asiana mielessä on oman yrityksen perustaminen ihan tässä lähitulevaisuudessa. Se on samaan aikaan jännittävää, pelottavaa ja innostavaa. Yrityksen pyörittäminen tulee teettämään alkuun paljon töitä ja epävarmuus töiden löytämisestä kalvaa, mutta eniten olen ehkä kuitenkin innoissani. Pääsen tekemään töitä oman intohimoni parissa. :)

Tiedossa on myös roadtrippi Pohjois-Norjaan. Sitä odotan kuin kuuta nousevaa! Edellinen reissu on syöpynyt muistoihini ikimuistoisena kokemuksena, joten on mahtava päästä samoihin maisemiin takaisin.

Tulevat kiireet tarkoittavat nykyarvioni mukaan sitä, että tämä blogi lopettaa toimintansa. En aio poistaa blogia kokonaan, mutta päivitykset jäävät jossain vaiheessa pois. Koitan vielä pari-kolme viikkoa päivittää, että saisin reissukuvat ja yrityksen alkutaipaleen tänne talteen. Tämä tekee minut hieman haikeaksi. On tätä blogia tullut sen verran ahkerasti ja pitkään pyöritettyä. Mutta ei hyvästellä vielä vaan vasta sitten viikkojen päästä!

I forgot to make an update last week! No wonder though, since I've had loads going trough my mind...

The biggest thing that occupies my mind is setting up my own creative business. It will happen very soon and it's both exciting and scary for me. I don't know what to expect except lots of work and uncertainty but I'm still kinda excited. I get to do my favorite thing anyway! :)

Other thing is a road trip to Northern Norway which I can't wait! The first trip I made there with my friend was great so I can't wait to get back there.

All this busy stuff means - at least I assume so - that this blog will stop at some point. I try to make updates few more weeks so that I get my trip and the story of my business' beginning here but then I'll concentrate on other things. I won't delete this blog, just stop updating. It makes me a bit sad since I've had this blog for ages... But I still have some weeks left so let's not cry yet! :)

Today you can check one of my painting sessions result. The scenery is from Stockholm's old town. It's a very loose painting style, kinda therapeutic. :)

394. Pieni Merenneito / A Little Mermaid

"Mermayn" kunniaksi syntyi tällainen merenneito-maalaus.

En ole sen kummemmin ottanut selville Mermayn tarkoitusta, mutta nimi on sanaleikki merenneitoa ja toukokuuta tarkoittavista englannin sanoista 'mermaid' ja 'May'. Huomasin vain kun yhtäkkiä joka toinen taiteilija alkoi postaamaan kuvan merenneidosta. Mukava juttu kyllä, sillä merenneidot ovat kiehtovia otuksia!

Oman työni inspiraationa tuon trendin lisäksi toimivat tarina pienestä merenneidosta ja Rudolf Koivun kuvitukset. Koitin samalla opetella käyttämään vähemmän vettä vesiväreillä maalatessani. Minä kun tuppaan lutraamaan sen kanssa aivan liikaa. :D

Since it seems to be "Mermay" I painted a little mermaid!

I have no idea where this mermay trend came from but suddenly I noticed every other artist posting a painting/drawing of a mermaid and writing the hashtag mermay after it. I loved the theme and the wordplay, though! 

My piece got its inspiration from the trend, of the story of Little Mermaid and from Finnish artist's, Rudolf Koivu's, illustrations. I used this painting as a lesson with watercolors. I always use so much water that I tried to avoid that this time. :D

Korealaisen draaman innoittamana maalattua! Draaman nimi otsikossa, mutta moni tietää sen myös nimellä 'Goblin'. :)

375. Rauhallinen iltapäivä / A Peaceful Afternoon

Oikein hyvää uutta vuotta 2017 kaikille!

DoNichi-Artin ensimmäinen taidepostaus on eräänlainen harjoitustyö. 

Oon monet kerrat ihastellut YouTubessa taiteilijoita, jotka kastelee paperin ja vain sipaisee väriä sinne tänne, ja yhtäkkiä niillä on edessä upea maalaus joka näyttää kaikelta muulta kuin värien hallitsemattomalta leviämiseltä ympäri paperia. Yritin siis kovasti tehdä itsekin niin, mutta kas kummaa kun löysinkin itseni taas korjailemasta ja tarkentamasta ääriviivoja yms.! 

Onhan siinä virheitäkin, mutta maalaustekninen harjoitus oli nyt selvästi tärkeämpää. Tunnelmaltaan työ on aika lähelle sitä mitä hainkin.

Happy New Year everyone!

The first art-piece of 2017 is kind of an experience.

For several times I've watched videos of watercolor artists on YouTube and admired how they work with the media. They wet the paper and put the color here and there and voilá - they have a beautiful painting in front of them! Though the colors have spread uncontrollably on the paper the result looks everything else.

I tried to do that too. But I failed! First I did exactly what the other artists did but then I started correcting colors and sharpening the edges etc. This is so me, hahah!

As a practice this is just fine. There're mistakes but I learned something new while working so it's okay. I like the atmosphere myself the best.
